Where the bill stands

The Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act was introduced September 24, 2026. This page tracks cosponsors, committee action, and amendments as they happen. It is updated when something actually changes.

Status as introduced

Senate bill led by Tim Scott (R-SC) and Adam Schiff (D-CA), joined by John Cornyn (R-TX) and Raphael Warnock (D-GA). House companion led by Nathaniel Moran (R-TX) with Linda Sánchez (D-CA), Brian Jack (R-GA), Laura Friedman (D-CA), David Kustoff (R-TN), Judy Chu (D-CA), Mike Carey (R-OH), and Tom Suozzi (D-NY). House bill number H.R.10582.

On September 28, eight additional senators joined as cosponsors: Cornyn, Steve Daines (R-MT), Andy Kim (D-NJ), Bernie Moreno (R-OH), Alex Padilla (D-CA), Tim Sheehy (R-MT), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Warnock. Seventeen industry organizations have endorsed, including SAG-AFTRA, the DGA, and the MPA.

The realistic path is the lame-duck session after the November midterms, most likely attached to a larger funding vehicle. The bill has not been scored by the Joint Committee on Taxation.
